Change Your Thinking Style

“Stop waiting for Monday, for warm weather, for life to be stress free.

Weight loss is achieved when you stop waiting for it but instead make the most of the moment you are in now.”

As the New Year rolls in, you are ready to swear off alcohol, chocolate and bread…for life.

Unfortunately the vast majority of New Year Resolutions will be broken by January 12. Making excuses for why you cannot start or stick to your weight loss journey is commonplace. However, if you challenge the way you think and implement new ways of thinking you can stay on track for your weight loss success well beyond January 12.

Things are black or white, good or bad. If it is not perfect, you’re a failure.

 Old You

I have just eaten a piece of cake. I have completely blown my diet so I might as well eat whatever I want today and get back on track tomorrow.

New You

That cake was really delicious. All I need to do is modify my eating for the rest of the day to stay on track.

If something bad happens, once, you expect it to happen over and over again.

Old You

Every time I start a diet, there are always so many events I have to go to. This makes it impossible to stick to my diet.

New You

This is a very busy time of the year with lots of social functions. I am going to plan my eating around my social events.

Negative Lens

You dwell on a single negative detail, so it colours the rest of the day.

Old You

I ate too much at that work function. There goes all the progress I have made this week.

New You

Today didn’t go quite as I planned but tomorrow I can wake up with a clean slate and start again.

For this year, don’t be defeated at the prospect of over hauling your diet. Start small, by identifying one style of thinking you can change and commit to it. Before long, you will have found a new sense of confidence that will help you achieve weight loss success.
