You have started you new weight loss plan and things are going really well but once the motivation goes how do you continue to stay on track?

Planning your meals and snack is absolutely essential to your success. Here are our 6 tips to help you stay on track even when your motivation may not be.

1.       Schedule a time to plan your meals and snacks so there’s no wiggle room.

Set aside 30 minutes each week to plan your meals and grocery shop accordingly. Keep in mind the first time you sit down and plan your meals the process will take a bit little longer. But once you have a system in place, you’ll breeze through the ritual.

2.       Plan for times you know are difficult for you.

If you are always hungry just before dinner, then bring an apple to work each day to eat around 4pm. If an apple is not your thing then try a small tub of yoghurt or 20g nuts. Remember it is a small snack to tie you over so it won’t spoil your dinner.

3.       Plan for cravings

Don’t ignore cravings for sweet, salty or crunchy foods. Instead plan for one snack to indulge in each week. This will prevent you from feeling deprived and just the thing you need to keep on track for the rest of the week.

4.       Chop once

If you’re making dinner on Sunday night, why not wash, chop and dice a bunch of your favourite vegetables and store them in the fridge for mid-week dinners. Cut up onion, capsicum, celery, carrot, and beans will stay fresh all week.

5.       Extra Chicken

Buy a bought chicken or make twice as much at dinner to avoid takeaways and transform it into creative meals like thai chicken noodle soup or shredded chicken tacos or add to a salad for a quick dinner.

6.       Take Your Time

Planning, shopping and prepping may seem like a ton of time to devote all at once but it will make a huge difference when you are feeling tired and exhausted all week. But most importantly, you’re more likely to stay on the healthy path throughout the week.
